“De chico se agranda y de grande se achica” is a common saying used by psychoanalysts in Argentina. In this figurative-abstract painting, the author explores the irony that this phrase suggests. Being raised in a chaotic and dysfunctional environment often affects individuals into adopting adult’s maladaptive behavior, as a defense mechanism. While as an adult, this same behavior become obsolete. By creating a fetal-like image with the head of an adult, the artist expresses the feeling of being a child forced into an adulthood or an adult stuck in childhood.
